Monday Inspiration: Free To Be Creative

_

“The essence of creativity is not the possession of some special talent. It is the ability to play -
permit yourself the supreme indulgence of playfulness, which is to allow yourself
temporarily to do something entirely for its own sake.” – John Cleese

I love this quote from John Cleese. I’m a big believer that every single one of us is a creative individual with endless potential.
You don’t need to be an artist to be creative. There is much more to it. According to the dictionary, being creative means:
1. having the quality or power of creating something.
2. resulting from originality of thought, expression, etc.
3. originative; productive.

Here is what I learned from Jennifer Grace’s workshop:

Usually creativity is blocked by fear, judgement and a inner critic.
If we could just let it go… and be free! Just be ourselves!

Why being creative is so important:
• tapping into your own creativity gives you a greater sense of self-worth and self-esteem
• being your authentic self is deeply fulfilling
• Approaching life with a fresh perspective helps you see things differently and find more hope and possibilities

Sounds good, right? I want that :)
So how can we all be more creative?

Ha! Great question! Well, I’m still learning, there is a long way to go…
Letting go of the fear of being judged, accepting yourself as you are, being open to new things, and trying new approaches are definitely helping me. It’s a work in progress that will never end. It’s something we need to work on everyday.

I can say that accepting yourself (including your flaws), and being open to whatever comes your way is the same as being creative.
Because doing that you set yourself FREE, and being FREE opens the doors to creativity!
Let’s be creative people.

Have an awesome Monday everyone!

Casual Friday: Getting Wild In The City // Part 2

Meatpacking District is my favorite area to hangout in NYC.
My favorite weekend activity is:
Brunch at The Standard Grill – their omelets and homemade donuts and fresh squeezed orange juice are amazing!
Then walk on The High Line.
Here are some shots I took around the Meatpacking District.
